On September 10, 2022, a small, but enthusiastic group of birders, joined field trip leader Terry Ballenger for a morning of birding at Strawtown Koteewi Park. The weather was ideal. It was sunny with little to no wind, making it easier to spot the fast-moving birds hunting for breakfast. The first bird was a Yellow-throated Vireo which was initially heard, then seen. It was a good start to the bird hike. Several species of warblers soon followed with great looks at Black-and-white Warbler, Tennessee Warbler, Nashville Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, American Redstart, Magnolia Warbler, Bay-breasted Warbler, and Black-throated Green Warbler.

Our tally for the morning was 40 species which included a quick flyover by a Common Nighthawk and a good number of Cedar Waxwings.  A thank you to Terry for leading a fun and productive outing.
