On May 1, Laurie Voss and Mary Kay Pitts led a bird hike at the Avon Town Hall Park for the Evergreen Club in Avon. Tiffany Bates, Event Planner for the Town of Avon Parks and Recreation, accompanied the group of 10 participants. We were fortunate to have a beautiful, sunny day to enjoy the area around the pond, the fields, and the woods at the park.
The hike began at 1:00pm which normally is a quieter time for the birds. However, we managed to see 33 species including seven species of warblers. Some of the participants were from India so every bird was exciting for them. All participants seemed to enjoy the birds and the day.
