Looking for a new bird hike on the south side of Indy? Then please join ABAS Education Chair and experienced birder, Jessica Helmbold, for a bird hike along the White River Greenway Trail from Old Town Waverly Park in Morgan County. The hike will take place on Sunday, May 18, 2025 from 8:00-10:00 am.

This is a hidden birding gem that offers amazing views as the trail winds along the White River. If lucky, you can catch a glimpse of the Bald Eagles nesting on the other side of the river. Also look for late migrants and birds that usually nest along rivers and streams such as Orioles and Prothonotary Warblers.

The hike is limited to 15 people, is open to anyone, but ABAS members will have priority until May 1. Participants are to meet at the trailhead parking area at Main St. and Wetzel St. in Martinsville. The GPS coordinates are 39.5569816, -86.2713365.
