Meet at the Holliday Park Pavilion for an evening of owl-themed activities. There will be an owl presentation, dissecting owl pellets, and a hike to listen for and call for owls in the forest. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED and there is a $7/person fee to Indy Parks. This is Friday and Saturday night.

Bird Walks in the Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab

The Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab is a wonderful place to bird watch, with over 165 different species sightings being recorded since 2002. No experience is necessary, and the hike will be led by one of the bird experts at Marian. The only things that are necessary are binoculars and a little bit of patience! We will meet at the St. Francis statue just west of the Allison Mansion on the Marian campus at 8:00 am every Wednesday starting March 3 and ending April 28. Bring water to drink and wear comfortable shoes. No reservation is required

Woodcock Walk – Daubenspeck Community Nature Park

Join ABAS Board member Brian Cunningham for an evening walk at Daubenspeck Community Nature Park (DCNP), a great spot to view displaying American Woodcocks. Woodcocks have a very acrobatic mating display that they perform at dusk known as the sky dance. While waiting for woodcocks, we will check the prairie and nearby woods for birds that may be going to roost in the park for the evening. Depending on the rules at the time, masks will likely be required for most of the hike. There may be times we can spread out and take a quick break from the masks. Garfield Park Urban Bird Walks – Canceled

Garfield Park Conservatory 2432 Conservatory Dr, Indianapolis, IN, United States

Garfield Park, while being a very urban park, is a sanctuary for wildlife. Join a park naturalist on a walk through the park in search of birds. Even if you have never been on a bird walk before or consider yourself an expert birder, this program is for everyone. Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring binoculars. If you don’t have binoculars, a limited number will be available for use to anyone who needs them. This Indy Parks event requires registration through their system. Meet at the Conservatory entrance.

Join ABAS at The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park at Newfields for bird hikes on this beautiful property along the White River and Central Canal. The hikes will be led by ABAS President Rob Ripma. Meet at the free parking at the loop just ¼ mile west of the 38th Street entrance to Newfields. The hike is free and open to the public. Registration is requested by emailing us at info@amosbutleraudubon.org. Depending on the rules at the time, masks will likely be required for most of the hike. Walks are ninety minutes to two hours on relatively even terrain. There is no fee for the walk but standard gate admission applies. Meet in the northeast corner of the Delaware Lake parking lot.

Spring Migrant Bird Hike at Sargent Road Nature Park – FULL

Sargent Road Nature Park 8101 Sargent Rd, Indianapolis, IN, United States

Join us as Earl Simon leads us through Sargent Road Nature Park (SRNP). Earl is a member of the board of the Mud Creek Conservancy which is instrumental in the development of SRNP.  This will be prime time for viewing warblers and other migrants. The terrain is flat with a mowed trail for easy accessibility.  Dress appropriately for the weather conditions and don't forget your binoculars.  There are no restrooms available at the park. The field trip is limited to 12 participants and registration is required.
