Fall Warblers – Strawtown Koteewi Park

Join well-respected birder and field trip leader Terry Ballenger as we look for migrating fall warblers as well as local resident birds in this 800-acre park. The fall migration should be well underway and we should expect to see several species of warblers. We’ll meet at the Taylor Center of Natural History building parking lot at 8:30 am and bird on foot from there. Masks will be required for the majority of the hike. There may be times when we can spread out and get a quick break from the masks.
Fort Harrison State Park Fall Migration Walks
Fort Harrison State Park 6000 North Post Rd, Indianapolis, IN, United StatesFall migration is lively and full of warblers, raptors, sparrows, and other songbirds. During the walk, your leader will point out birds seen and heard and provide details on how to identify cryptic fall warblers, drab flycatchers, and LBJ’s, or Little Brown Jobs, also known as sparrows. Walks are approximately two hours on relatively even terrain. There is no fee for the walk but standard gate admission applies. Meet in the northeast corner of the Delaware Lake parking lot at 8:00 am. Masks or some face covering should be with you and it is strongly encouraged during the walk.

Located in Westfield, Liz has been a DNR permitted wildlife rehabilitator since 1995. Her husband, Chris, joined her in 1991. Last year they registered over 800 birds for rehabilitation. She will have a few live birds that aren't candidates to be released and will demonstrate feeding techniques with some young birds if possible.

Garfield Park Conservatory 2432 Conservatory Dr, Indianapolis, IN, United StatesGarfield Park, while being a very urban park, is a sanctuary for wildlife. Join a park naturalist on a walk through the park in search of birds. Even if you have never been on a bird walk before or consider yourself an expert birder, this program is for everyone. Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring binoculars. If you don’t have binoculars, a limited number will be available for use to anyone who needs them. Meet at the Conservatory entrance.
Conner Prairie Fall Migration Field Trip
Conner Prairie 13400 Allisonville Road, Fishers, IN, United StatesRegistration is full. Join accomplished birders Becky Lomax-Sumner and Laurie Voss for a morning of birding at Conner Prairie. It should be prime time viewing for fall warblers and other migrating birds as well as local, year-round residents. The trip is limited to 10 participants, and registration is required.
