Come explore Southeastway Park during spring migration. Join Theresa Wilson every Tuesday in April and May. This is a family friendly, beginner to intermediate nature walk, weather permitting. Don’t forget bug spray and sunblock! Meet at the Nature Center at Southeastway Park.

Who doesn’t love raptors?  And, who doesn’t love learning more about them?  Join us as we host the Indiana Raptor Center alongside some of their Education Ambassadors ... raptors!  The presentation will introduce you to the world of raptors along with some of the current projects of the Center. ABAS Birdathon grants have supported the Center each year since 2015.

Bird Walks in the Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab

Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab 3200 Cold Spring Road, Indianapolis, IN, United States

The Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab is a wonderful place to bird watch, with over 165 different species sightings being recorded since 2002. No experience is necessary, and the hike will be led by one of the bird experts at Marian. The only things that are necessary are binoculars and a little bit of patience! We will meet at the St. Francis statue just west of the Allison Mansion on the Marian campus at 8:00 am every Wednesday starting August 28th and ending the week before Thanksgiving. Bring water to drink and wear comfortable shoes. No reservation is required.

Join Scott Enochs as he leads you on a field trip to a local hotspot in search of resident and migratory sparrows.  Our target sparrows will be Song, Field, Swamp, Lincoln’s, Vesper, White-throated, White-crowned, Nelson’s and LeConte’s. Due to parking limitations, group size will be limited to 12 participants.

Join Don Gorney for his 20th year of leading fall bird walks at Ft. Harrison State Park. Fall migration is lively and full of warblers, raptors, sparrows, and other songbirds. During the walk Don will point out birds seen and heard and provide details on how to identify cryptic fall warblers, drab flycatchers, and LBJ’s (Little Brown Jobs, also known as sparrows).

Owls of Indiana for Kids

Mark Booth with Take Flight Wildlife Education will be visiting the Cool Creek Nature Center and bringing a few owls that are found in Indiana. He’ll share some of the amazing adaptations that these birds have! This Hamilton County Parks program is for school-aged children. It is free and no registration is required.

Join Hendricks County Parks and Recreation Naturalists for an easy and informal walk to spot birds. Learn clues for identifying by sight and sound while also enjoying the beauty of McCloud Nature Park in the fall. All levels of birding experience are welcome, from beginner to expert. This is an opportunity to explore and learn together. Dress for the weather and prepare to walk about 1 mile over moderate surfaces.

CILTI Hike at the Fred and Dorothy Meyer Nature Preserve

CILTI Fred and Dorothy Nature Preserve 2600 N Old State Rd 67, Martinsville, IN, United States

Join the Central Indiana Land Trust (CILTI) for a fall hike at the Fred and Dorothy Meyer Preserve. This is a moderately difficult hike with some slopes and steep areas. The hike should present a beautiful sneak peek of fall colors in this Morgan County forest. This hike will be led by CILTI’s Stewardship Manager, Jamison Hutchins. The trail is considered moderate and appropriate for hikers who can handle some steep hills. Space is limited for this hike, so please register.
